Our Team
M.Reachable is more than just a project, it’s a growing community built on the belief that every young person deserves to feel confident and curious about maths. What began as a student-led initiative has evolved into a collaborative effort to reshape how maths is experienced – not as something distant or daunting, but as something approachable, playful and meaningful. This is the story of how M.Reachable came to life, from a small idea among a few students, to a bold vision powered by a growing team and a shared passion for making maths reachable for all.
Our journey began in December 2024 with four passionate students taking part in an internship program, united by a shared mission – to make maths more accessible and engaging for young learners. With guidance from our mentor, Amir – who fondly referred to us by the acronym EACH – the name M.Reachable was born, weaving our initials into the very identity of the project. As our vision grew, so did our team. The team expanded, bringing fresh perspectives and creative energy that sparked our very first initiative: Mathusiasts – a playful, imaginative way to bring joy into learning mathematics. Each new addition brought something unique, helping M.Reachable evolve from a simple idea into a vibrant, collaborative movement in education.
Amir – Project Lead and Academic Supervisor
Amir, recipient of the Amazing Teaching Award at Liverpool John Moores University, holds a PhD in Mathematics Education from the University of Warwick. He champions the view that mathematics is a story we can all shape—by telling it, listening to it, or both. Guided by this belief, M.Reachable exists to support children, students, parents, teachers, and everyone else: those already curious about maths and—just as importantly—those who have yet to discover their curiosity. Mathematics has something to offer every learner, whatever their ability or past experience—let M.Reachable help you find your place in the story.
Evie – Digital Content and Communications Coordinator
Looking back on my childhood, I don’t remember a time where I didn’t have a great enthusiasm for maths. I have always loved the endless possibilities that it offers – the way numbers and patterns can make sense of the world. Maths has always felt like a safe space for me to explore, learn and challenge myself. That’s why I am beyond excited for this opportunity. I can’t wait to share my love for maths and help others discover the fun and creativity it can bring.
Beth – Web Design and Games Researcher
My passion for maths began with the satisfaction of always having a correct answer to aim for. Though I now know this isn’t always the case for more complex mathematics, as a child I love facing difficult mathematical challenges and finding an exact solution was both enjoyable and rewarding. Now in university, I rarely encounter single-solution problems, however, achieving correct results is still just as fulfilling. Through the Mathusiasts project, I hope to create and discover mathematical or logic-based games that can give others the same enjoyment I feel when doing maths.
Aiden – Maths Education Outreach Team
Aiden – Maths used to be something I struggled with as a child, until one teacher made it fun and engaging. That moment changed everything. I grew to love maths for the way it helps make sense of the world. Now I study it at university and work as a data analyst, using maths every day to solve real problems. Helping create resources for parents means a lot to me, because I know how hard it can be to support a child who’s struggling. This project is about making maths feel less intimidating and more welcoming to everyone.
Partnerships
We are thrilled to announce our partnership with Liverpool Learning Partnership (LLP) as our external collaborator. LLP is committed to ensuring that children across the Liverpool City Region have every opportunity to thrive and reach their full potential. Their mission aligns perfectly with ours, and we are excited to work together to bring the beauty of mathematics to life for children everywhere!
